A downloadable game for Windows

About

This game was made for a Game Jam so expect bugs. That being said have fun!

Being my first game jam and making a game for it it was fun! Although my schedule hasn't been the best for any jams, but what time I did have I tried to out into this jam since it had such a long work time!

My Thoughts

When the Jams optional theme was announced, Cycle, I was thinking what could I use with that. The only thing that kept coming to my head was Destructo Truck. Which was a old flash game I used to play while in high school. The premise of the game was to keep going through the same-ish level constantly, racking up money with each house you destroyed. And that money was used to upgrade your truck and ramp.

So I'm going through each playthrough to rack up the money aka cycling! So I thought that why not combine that with a car. Then I had the idea to make it a newspaper delivery game. I tried making the car asset but failed. I then found some opengameart assets and modified them a little and gave them an animation to make the car.

To have some level of uh oh in the game I gave the player 2 different stop signs. One with a camera and one without. Since the name of the game is to deliver more papers to get paid more, the stop sign with a camera is used to give citations to the player to loose money. And a fuel waster to halt progress. But you could just take the citation loss if you want to deliver more!

I got a lot of what I wanted to try. Which was have a game that seamlessly wraps around to avoid going to far in one direction. I got that part about 90% good, still had some trouble on it, but it works! I also figured out a shop system that I've been wanting to try implementing.

The one feature that I wanted to add but didn't have the time to because of again, my schedule with work and other life matter, was the ability to choose between 3 cars.

I did upload my code to my Github

So I hope if you play it, leave a comment and tell me how I did! I do have a credits section to check out some of that good music I found for the game.

Peace and love, have a good day
